Here comes Microsoft's Xbox Music service!
When Microsoft announced Xbox Music at this year's E3 gaming expo, it sounded like an effort to become the next iTunes.
Microsoft announced Sunday that the all-in-one service will feature streaming radio, kind of like Pandora, and an ad-supported or paid subscription service and, yes, music purchasing. With 30 million songs, Xbox Music is the world's biggest music library, Microsoft says. Apple's iTunes, by comparison, boasts more than 26 million songs. It is also designed to run equally well on PCs, tablets and smartphones. Xbox Music will also be included on Apple's IOS and Google's Android operating systems. It comes out Tuesday on the Xbox 360 system and will expand to the rest of the Microsoft product universe when its new operating system, Windows 8, is released October 26. I think this is a really good idea because we can listen to music on Xbox and there's more songs on here than ITunes.
